Early 1900's Meerschaum Pipe.

This Meerschaum pipe, also known as Sepiolite, appears to depict a Turkish Sultan.

Meerschaum was first recorded to be used around 1723. It soon began replacing traditional clay pipes beacuase it was a perfect material for a cool, dry, flavorful smoke. because of Meerschaums porous nature, moisture and tobacco tar are drawn deep into the stone.

This piece is in good original overall condition and comes in its original custom fit case.

Measures approximately 6 1/2" long by 4 1/2" wide by 3" tall.
